On October 20, Capcom launched the Nintendo Switch 2 demo for Monster Hunter Wilds. This trial version allows players to experience the game's opening, including character creation and the prologue through Chapter 1-3, "Into the Forest," for free.
The demo features the same content as the full game, enabling players to hunt new monsters like Chatacabra and Kematris using any of the 14 weapon types. While the demo is strictly offline, it supports local wireless multiplayer for up to four people. Players can also utilize support hunters, which are NPCs that arrive to assist when a distress signal is sent during quests.
Save data from this trial can be transferred to the full version of the game, which is scheduled for release on December 4, 2026. The full Switch 2 release will include all previous title updates and support cross-play via internet connection, though the demo itself lacks online features and photo mode.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version is currently available for pre-order at a standard price of 4,990 yen, with a special early purchase price of 3,742 yen available until January 7, 2027. Additionally, the large-scale expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, is slated for release on the platform in 2027.
