Cold Symmetry and publisher Playstack have released the Rotten Autumn update for Mortal Shell 2. This free content drop introduces seasonal surprises and thematic additions to the soulslike title, which has achieved Mostly Positive reviews on Steam as of 2026.
The update features 15 new dungeons, each containing unique bosses and mechanics. Notably, some sections shift the camera perspective to isometric or side-scrolling views, drawing comparisons to titles like Diablo IV and Blasphemous. Players can also utilize a new Photo Mode to capture combat encounters.
Additional gameplay enhancements include 10 new Tarstones for build customization, new skins for all shells, and a Halloween pumpkin helmet. The update also adds a fresh soundtrack featuring Sakis Tolis, a new Impervio lute skin, and various seasonal rewards hidden throughout the open world.
Technical improvements, such as lighting adjustments and bug fixes, are included. Developers have teased the potential existence of a secret sheep-themed dungeon, humorously referencing Diablo IV's famous cow level, while inviting players to uncover hidden content themselves.
