Microsoft and Nvidia have officially announced the Surface Laptop Ultra, powered by the new RTX Spark system-on-a-chip. Revealed at a San Francisco event, the device is part of a broader ecosystem that includes the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box. Both products are available for pre-order, with shipping scheduled for October 16.
The Surface Laptop Ultra starts at $2,599, while the Dev Box begins at $5,999. The laptop features a 4.5-pound design, the brightest peak HDR on a laptop, and a magnetic USB-C charging port. Microsoft claims the RTX Spark chip offers performance up to 2.1 times faster to first token and 6.2 times faster video generation compared to the MacBook Pro's M5 Pro.
Windows 11 is receiving significant updates to support agentic AI, including new search menu actions and enhanced taskbar integration for Copilot. Microsoft introduced Execution Containers to manage data sharing with agents, alongside hybrid intelligence features that balance local and cloud processing to optimize token budgets.
Gaming capabilities were highlighted, with the system running Gears of War: E-Day at 60 frames per second. Microsoft confirmed that hundreds of titles will be available at launch, with Call of Duty arriving on the platform in 2027.
