Key information

Konami has confirmed that its game development procedures will not undergo significant changes due to the rise of generative artificial intelligence. According to the company's Integrated Report for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, Konami maintains that human creativity remains the essential factor in producing innovative entertainment.

Hideki Hayakawa, president of Konami Digital Entertainment, acknowledges that while many in the industry view AI as a tool to facilitate development, he does not believe it will fundamentally alter the market. He notes that entry barriers have already been lowered by generic game engines and user-generated content.

Hayakawa argues that the "chemical reaction" occurring within diverse development teams—where individuals from different backgrounds share ideas and perspectives—cannot be replicated by machines. He asserts that even if AI improves production efficiency, the core of game creation relies on the collaboration of human creators.

Konami does not intend to replace employees with AI. Instead, the company plans to provide systematic support for creators to learn new technologies, evaluate associated risks, and integrate them safely into their workflows to explore new types of gaming experiences.
