The Swedish game studio Liquid Swords has officially filed for bankruptcy. Founder Christofer Sundberg confirmed the closure of the company, which is responsible for the title Samson.
Despite the studio's closure, the game Samson performed significantly better on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S than it did on PC. The PC version launched in April, followed by the console releases in September, yet this stronger performance on consoles proved insufficient to sustain the studio's operations.
According to reports cited by GameSpot, all 27 employees have been laid off as part of the bankruptcy proceedings. Staff members have reported missing salary payments for two months, though these are expected to be covered by the Swedish wage guarantee system.
Regarding the future of Samson, Sundberg stated that the team is currently discussing potential options to continue support for the game following the studio's final closure. The outcome of these ongoing deliberations will determine the title's long-term status.
