Key information

The Swedish game developer Liquid Swords is shutting down operations. Founder Christofer Sundberg confirmed the closure, noting that the studio's title, Samson, failed to generate sufficient revenue to sustain the company despite stronger performance on consoles compared to PC.

Samson launched on PC in April, followed by releases on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in September. While the console versions demonstrated better sales figures, these results were ultimately insufficient to prevent the studio from filing for bankruptcy.

According to reports cited by GameSpot and Destructoid, all 27 employees are being laid off as part of the bankruptcy proceedings. Staff members have reported missing salary payments for two months, which are expected to be covered by the Swedish state wage guarantee.

Regarding the future of the game, Sundberg stated that the team is currently exploring options to continue supporting Samson after the studio officially closes. The long-term availability and maintenance of the title remain subject to these ongoing discussions.
