Key information
Embark Studios recently concluded the PVE Matchmaking Toggle Beta Test for Arc Raiders, which ran from October 13 to October 20, 2026. This trial allowed players to toggle PVE mode during map selection, resulting in matches with disabled player-versus-player damage, reduced loot, and more aggressive ARC enemies.
The developer reported that over 30,000,000 matches were played during the seven-day period. SteamDB data indicated peak concurrent player counts reached 185,443 following the Frozen Trail and PVE mode launch, with figures settling to 88,183 in the final 24 hours of the test. These figures exclude data from PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Embark Studios acknowledged mixed community feedback regarding the PVE mode. The team is currently gathering additional input via surveys and their official Discord channel. They emphasized that future decisions will prioritize overall game health and player experience.
A final report regarding the future of the PVE mode is expected in November. This analysis will determine whether the mode becomes a permanent feature or if the development effort is deemed unsuitable for the game's long-term direction.
