A community-developed mod for Tekken 6, created by Ekspym, has introduced rollback netcode to the title. Since its release two weeks ago, the project has gained significant traction, recording 4,547 downloads by October 15 and reaching over 10,000 players by October 17.

The mod functions similarly to an emulator, though the developer notes it does not include PS3 firmware or the game itself. This release has triggered a sharp divide between Western players, who often view such projects as a way to preserve inaccessible titles, and competitors in Japan and Korea.

Prominent Japanese pro player Dogura criticized the mod as crossing a moral line, expressing concern over the lack of negative feedback from overseas. Other Japanese users, such as Higemura, argued that unauthorized services threaten the future of the Tekken series by diverting potential revenue and infringing on Bandai Namco's intellectual property rights.

While some East Asian players have compared the mod to serious crimes, Western users maintain that playing an otherwise unavailable game is not theft. As of now, Bandai Namco has not issued a response to the mod, leaving the project active while highlighting a deep cultural rift regarding emulation.
