The overclocker known as Luumi has established a new performance record for the Intel Core i5-4670K within the Cinebench R11.5 benchmark rankings. This achievement surpasses a previous record that remained unchallenged for approximately 12 years.

To reach this milestone, the 2013 Haswell processor was pushed to a frequency of 6,301 MHz using liquid nitrogen cooling. This clock speed represents a 66% increase over the chip's standard 3.8 GHz boost clock, resulting in a score of 10.8 cb.

The setup utilized period-appropriate hardware, including an ASRock Z97 OC Formula motherboard and 4 GB of XPG DDR3 memory. The benchmark was executed on Windows 7, as HWBot regulations restrict the use of newer operating systems for pre-Skylake processors unless BenchMate is employed.

While this result is specific to the i5-4670K category, it highlights the extreme overclocking potential of 22 nm Haswell silicon. Although modern hardware significantly outperforms this legacy chip, the effort demonstrates the ongoing interest in maximizing the performance of older components.
