A PC Gamer contributor has integrated a rideshare and food delivery experience into Grand Theft Auto 5 through the installation of the Goober & Goober Eats mod. This modification introduces a dedicated work phone, distinct from the standard in-game device, allowing players to register for gig labor within Los Santos.
The mod provides structured navigation, utilizing map markers to guide players from pickup locations to their final destinations. While the system functions as intended for task initiation, the player noted that acquiring vehicles requires teleporting into nearby cars, which serves as a workaround for the mod's current limitations.
The experience is frequently interrupted by the player's self-imposed constraint of teleporting to random map locations every 50 seconds. These technical hurdles, combined with environmental hazards like gang violence and traffic accidents, complicated the delivery process. In one instance, the player became trapped between pylons, necessitating a manual teleport to complete the task for a payout of approximately $100.
This project is part of an ongoing series of modifications for the title, which has previously included the addition of militant furries and mechanics inspired by Crazy Taxi. The author notes that the Los Santos Customs mod series will be on hiatus but is expected to return in the near future.
