Final Fantasy Resonance features a core mechanic called Visions, which allows players to equip companions from across the series to main characters Rain and Lasswell. These Visions are obtained at crystal shrines and provide magic, physical attacks, and permanent stat enhancements to health and speed.

Players can collect 26 distinct companions, including iconic figures like Sephiroth, Terra, and Lightning. Each Vision features faithful animations, music, and attacks derived from their original titles. As characters win battles, they earn mastery points to unlock specific abilities and passive perks, such as Noctis’s attack boosts or Zidane’s Steal skill.

Visions fundamentally alter party roles, allowing players to build specialists or all-rounders. By pairing characters like Lasswell with specific Visions, players can adapt their playstyle, such as adding healing capabilities to a Breaker class. Staggering enemies enables powerful cinematic Resonance finishers, like Cloud’s Ascension.

Beyond Visions, the game includes traditional elements like orchestral scores and Chocobo rides. Players can further evolve their companions by collecting magicite to increase their base rank. Final Fantasy Resonance is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 on October 22.
