CD Projekt Red has officially announced that renowned game director Hideo Kojima will return to the Night City universe. He is set to reprise his role as the Braindance director Hideyoshi Oshima in the upcoming anime series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2.
Kojima previously appeared as a cameo in the video game Cyberpunk 2077, where players could encounter his character, Hideyoshi Oshima, during The Heist mission at Konpeki Plaza. The character serves as a director of Braindance, a popular form of entertainment within the franchise's setting.
While his involvement is confirmed, it remains uncertain whether the character will be limited to a brief background appearance or if he will play a more significant role, interacting directly with the main cast of the new series.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is being produced by CD Projekt Red in collaboration with Studio Trigger. The series will feature a new ensemble of characters and is scheduled for an exclusive release on Netflix on October 20, 2026.
