Key information

Wizards of the Coast has announced that the final Magic: The Gathering expansion for 2026 will feature a Star Trek Universes Beyond set. Scheduled for a November release, the expansion includes a main set and preconstructed Commander decks, alongside special card treatments featuring signatures from individuals depicted in the artwork.

The expansion introduces seven new mechanics, with two exclusive to Commander cards, plus one returning mechanic from 2024's Edge of Eternities. Among the new additions is Beam Me Up, which enables players to cast specific spells from their graveyard by returning a controlled creature to its owner's hand and paying an additional cost.

Another mechanic, Face A Dilemma, provides bonuses when players make choices on modal spells. For instance, the Seven of Nine card allows players to draw a card whenever they make such a choice. Additionally, the Kobayashi Maru Scenario enchantment forces players to select from four distinct effects each turn, with the constraint that the same effect cannot be repeated, leading to a loss if the card remains after four turns.

The set also features the Federation mechanic, though further details regarding its specific functionality remain limited in the current announcement.
