Clive Barker, the creator of the Hellraiser franchise, recently expressed his satisfaction with the new video game Hellraiser: Revival. Although he initially harbored concerns that the title would be overly censored, Barker stated he is proud of the final product and the extent to which the developers pushed the boundaries of the source material.

Developed by Saber Interactive, the game departs from previous asymmetrical multiplayer adaptations by offering a single-player survival experience. The title earned an M for Mature rating for its intense violence, blood, gore, nudity, and strong sexual content, with the development team reportedly aiming to be restricted or unrated.

The game's intensity has caused real-world complications, as French YouTuber J0nathan reported a permanent channel ban after uploading gameplay footage, even after attempting to censor nudity. Meanwhile, IGN awarded the game a 6/10, noting that while the antagonist Pinhead is visually accurate, other aspects of the experience fail to reach the same level of quality.

Barker views the project as a potential blueprint for future franchise entries, suggesting it serves as a wake-up call for revitalizing existing intellectual properties. He expressed a desire to continue exploring the Hellraiser universe, noting he has additional concepts he hopes to realize in the future.
