Key information
Arrowhead Game Studios is replacing its current anti-cheat software in Helldivers 2, acknowledging that the previous Gameguard implementation failed to meet performance expectations. The developer stated that the prior system was not as effective as it could have been in maintaining game integrity.
The studio is adopting Easy Anti-Cheat, an industry standard utilized by over 200 titles, to better safeguard the Galactic War and ensure fair gameplay. Arrowhead believes this shift represents a more robust approach to protecting the overall experience for all participants.
This transition impacts the modding community, as certain modifications that previously functioned may no longer work. While the team values cosmetic and non-gameplay mods, they noted that software changes are necessary to block modifications that provide unfair advantages or negatively affect others.
Players encountering issues with non-malicious mods are encouraged to contact the developer via Zendesk. Meanwhile, the game remains unavailable in the UK due to an unresolved issue that Sony is currently working to address with Valve.
