Key information

Square Enix will release Final Fantasy Resonance on October 22, 2026, for PC, Switch, Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. This RPG reimagines the first season of the mobile title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius for console hardware, following knights Rain and Lasswell as they pursue the Order of the Six.

The game introduces Cinematic Pixel, a new HD-2D visual style that combines dot art with dynamic camera work. Combat utilizes a turn-based command system centered on a Break Gauge. Depleting this gauge stuns enemies and triggers an Extra Phase for additional actions. Achieving a Full Break allows the entire party to act, rewarding players for strategic planning.

The Vision system serves as the game's job mechanic. Players equip Vision Crystals to inherit abilities and unique Resonance finishers. Characters can be customized by matching or mixing roles like Attacker and Healer, with limits on ability costs and slots. The reviewer notes that while the visuals are initially striking, the true depth lies in the tactical combat and the rewarding, flexible character building.

Beyond the main story, players can explore dungeons with environmental puzzles and complete optional side quests for rewards like crafting materials and powerful summons known as Eidolons. A demo is currently available for those interested in experiencing the gameplay firsthand.
