Taiwanese independent developer Wei Ting Weng has officially launched FingerLaserX for iOS and Android devices. This new title arrives 14 years after the original FingerLaser, which debuted on iPhone in 2012, following a five-year development cycle.
The game functions as a finger-controlled laser tower defense shooter. Players must defend their base against waves of enemies descending from the top of the screen by swiping to fire lasers. Holding to charge the attack allows for more powerful shots or the deployment of energy bombs to combat increasingly difficult waves and massive screen-filling bosses.
Players can utilize gold earned in combat to upgrade lasers and purchase equipment across more than 40 unlockable missions. The launch version includes three laser types and five equipment items, such as batteries and black holes. Future free updates will introduce additional content, including heat and lightning lasers, as well as new equipment like ion cannons and energy walls.
FingerLaserX is available globally on the App Store and Google Play. The developer emphasizes that the game maintains the spirit of the original by operating without stamina bars, forced advertisements, or mandatory logins, and it supports offline play. The title is free to download with optional in-app purchases and offers support for 10 languages, including Traditional Chinese.
