Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will allow players to select Hard Mode from the beginning of the game. Director Naoki Hamaguchi confirmed this change, noting that the high-difficulty experience has been reimagined to align with the title's specific design, departing from the progression requirements seen in FF7 Remake and Rebirth.

The shift in difficulty accessibility stems from the game's structure, which grants early access to the world of Gaia. Once players obtain their airship, they can encounter difficult battles immediately. Consequently, the developers designed the game to offer substantial end-game content, ensuring players have challenges to pursue even after finishing the main narrative.

Beyond the Hard Mode update, Hamaguchi stated that a Dynamic Mode will be available at launch to maintain consistent combat difficulty. Additionally, the game will include options to adjust the complexity of its various mini-games. These features aim to provide a more flexible experience compared to previous entries in the series.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is scheduled for release on 8th April, 2027. The title will be available on PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S.
