Following the April reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, various publishers have announced physical releases for the system. While many titles utilize Game Key Cards—which require an internet download to play—a selection of RPGs are confirmed to ship as complete, playable experiences directly on the cartridge.

These complete physical releases often include the base game alongside an Upgrade Pack. For instance, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma and Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition include their respective upgrades on the cartridge. Similarly, CD Projekt Red confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition contains the full game and the Phantom Liberty expansion on a single card, avoiding the need for additional downloads.

However, some releases have limitations. Nintendo’s physical editions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 do not include their respective DLC on the cartridge. Additionally, regional discrepancies exist; for example, Muramasa: Revenant Blades and Eternal Anima are full physical releases in North America, while European and Japanese versions are distributed as Game Key Cards.

Other notable titles arriving on complete cartridges include Lies of P, which features the Overture DLC, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. As of October 19, 2026, these titles represent a commitment by select publishers to provide traditional physical media for the new platform.
