Developer Alliance Arts has officially canceled the public Steam demo for Drunken Goddess Reflux, which was originally scheduled for October 19. The studio cited concerns that artificial intelligence tools could be used to replicate the game's mechanics and presentation, potentially leading to unauthorized copies appearing before the full release.

The game, a collaboration between Alliance Arts and Who You, is described as an anime-themed drinking game featuring a variation of Russian roulette played with shotglasses against a demon. It remains slated for a PC release via Steam on December 8, 2026.

Instead of a public release, the developer plans to host closed online testing sessions for a limited number of participants. Access to these sessions will require players to adhere to strict regulations regarding streaming and video publication. Alliance Arts stated that they currently lack the capacity to manage these security restrictions in a public environment.

This decision highlights ongoing industry debates regarding generative AI and the protection of intellectual property. While the move limits pre-launch access for the general public, the studio views it as a necessary step to mitigate risks associated with public exposure prior to the official 2026 launch.
