Pearl Abyss has unveiled a preview for the first DLC for Crimson Desert, titled Crimson Desert Enhanced: Unknown Journey. The expansion is scheduled for a worldwide release on October 30 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
The DLC expands the open-world action-adventure beyond the continent of Paeywell into the seas. Players can construct and customize their own ships to explore new islands, engage in naval combat against hostile factions, and establish new bases. Additionally, the update introduces underwater exploration, where players utilize self-crafted diving suits and specialized transport to discover sunken ruins, treasures, and resources.
New social and management mechanics allow players to build relationships with NPCs, potentially leading to romance and marriage. Furthermore, players can manage facilities by assigning companions and setting operational strategies to earn currency. The housing system has also been significantly expanded, now allowing players to design the structural layout of homes, including walls and windows, or repurpose captured castles as personal residences.
Development Producer Cho Yong-hyun stated that the expansion aims to offer fresh adventures and narratives. The DLC includes new story content, cutscenes, and enhanced production values, alongside support for additional languages and voice acting. Pre-orders are currently available, with early purchasers receiving exclusive diving suit outfits for the characters Cliff, Unka, and Demian.
