The developers of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, released on October 15, have expressed enthusiasm regarding the intense and sometimes suggestive reactions from players. The team specifically noted their awareness of explicit fan art circulating online, which they view positively.
Designer-in-chief Sandro Bordier and marketing director Bérenger Dupré confirmed that the characters were intentionally designed to be attractive. Bordier noted that the team is proud of this stylistic choice, which was crafted with the specific goal of appealing to the game's audience.
During a discussion with Fall Damage, the developers joked about the reception of characters like Trevor Belmont. Dupré suggested that there should be a specific category at the Game Awards for attractive father figures, reflecting the team's lighthearted take on the community's focus on character aesthetics.
Beyond character design, the developers emphasized that the game includes various Easter eggs and secrets, such as references to classic fighting game characters. The team expressed that the overall positive reception to their work has been an emotional and rewarding experience during the development process.
