Showrunner Bartosz Sztybor confirmed that the second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will maintain the emotional core of the series. While the upcoming installment introduces a fresh cast within Night City, it remains deeply connected to the first season through shared themes of love, sacrifice, and parenthood.
The narrative structure shifts its focus regarding familial dynamics. While the initial season examined the parent-child relationship primarily from the perspective of the youth, the new season explores these bonds through the eyes of the parents. Sztybor describes the two seasons as mirrors, noting that characters navigate similar thematic waters while making distinct choices that lead to potentially different outcomes.
The plot centers on four individuals: King, a former legend managing cyber-psychosis; D, a vengeful Nomad netrunner; Roman, a cinephile with minimal enhancements; and Talia, a heavily modified Maelstrom member. These characters become entangled in corporate conflicts and illegal technology schemes, which also incorporate a lingering plot thread carried over from the previous season.
