CD Projekt Red has officially announced that Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima will appear in the upcoming anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. Kojima is set to reprise his role as Hideyoshi Oshima, a character he originally portrayed in the 2020 game Cyberpunk 2077.
In his original game appearance, Kojima was found at Konpeki Plaza discussing his interest in braindance technology. He expressed a desire to use the medium to convey raw human emotions, such as the blend of happiness and melancholy, to create more realistic storytelling.
IGN awarded the second season a 9/10 rating, describing the series as "Amazing." Reviewers noted that while the show successfully delivers gory, action-packed content, it does not quite reach the same heights as the first season.
All 10 episodes of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 are scheduled to premiere simultaneously on October 20, 2026. Despite his ongoing work on titles like Physint and OD, Kojima confirmed his involvement in this project, which was among the anime works he previously teased.
