CD Projekt has revealed a surprise update for Cyberpunk 2077, scheduled for release this week. The Edgerunners 2 Update, version 2.5, is set to launch on Thursday, October 22, 2026.
The update is themed around the second season of the Netflix animated series Edgerunners. While specific details remain undisclosed, associate game director Paweł Sasko teased that the team has prepared something significant for players.
This announcement contrasts with the developer's stance from May, when they stated there were no plans for further expansions or DLC for the game. Fans are currently speculating whether the update will include substantial new content or quests, rather than just cosmetic additions.
Cyberpunk 2077, which launched in December 2020, has sold 40 million copies as of July 2026. The game previously received one major expansion, 2023's Phantom Liberty. Future projects from the studio include a sequel, which is not expected until at least 2030.
