Paradox Interactive has announced Silk & Silver, a significant expansion for the grand strategy title Crusader Kings III. Scheduled for release on November 17, this content shifts the focus from traditional dynastic rule to the influence of merchant families.
Players can now manage landless merchant families, choosing between three distinct specializations: Caravaneer, Creditor, or Artisan. This system involves establishing trade routes for over 40 unique goods and expanding company headquarters to exert financial pressure on regional rulers.
The expansion introduces playable Republic governments, allowing patrician families to vie for the role of doge. Mechanics include proposing legislation via assemblies, creating foreign trade posts, and forming cooperative Trade Leagues with other Republics.
Silk & Silver features two new historical bookmarks: the 1066 trade networks and the 1178 conflict between the Guelphs and Ghibellines. The expansion is priced at $29.99, £25.99, or €29.99 and is also included as part of the Crusader Kings III: Chapter V bundle.
