Paradox Interactive has announced that Silk and Silver, the second major expansion for Crusader Kings 3 this year, is scheduled for release on November 17th. This upcoming content follows the recent launch of the religion-focused DLC, By God Alone.
As part of the game's fifth DLC chapter, Silk and Silver focuses on merchant republics. Players will manage patrician families, aiming to establish successful trading companies and eventually rise to power as a Doge.
The expansion introduces mechanics for specializing in naval trade or populism, alongside a customizable constitution. Players can also manage trade routes and decide whether to pursue monopolies or participate in cooperative trade leagues.
Despite the maritime theme, Paradox confirmed that naval warfare will not be included. The developers stated that they prioritized balancing and new systems over adding large features that could not be fully developed within the current scope.
