CD Projekt Red loremaster Patrick Mills has officially clarified the timeline for the upcoming second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Contrary to fan theories suggesting a prequel, Mills confirmed on Bluesky that the series is set in 2078, taking place shortly after the pivotal meeting with Hanako at Embers in Cyberpunk 2077.
The narrative shift is reflected in the reduced influence of the Arasaka corporation compared to its standing during the original game. While fans are actively debating whether this placement confirms specific canon endings for Cyberpunk 2077, the studio maintains that the series does not force a definitive decision regarding those outcomes.
