CD Projekt RED has revealed a free update for Cyberpunk 2077, titled Update 2.5, which draws inspiration from the second season of the Netflix series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. This new season, produced alongside Studio Trigger, features an independent narrative centered on vengeance and redemption within Night City.
The patch introduces gameplay enhancements, specifically adding new customization options for cybernetic implants and a dual-wielding combat style. While the developer has not detailed the mechanics of these additions, they intend to provide a full demonstration during an upcoming REDstreams broadcast.
The developer scheduled a presentation for October 21 to showcase the patch's primary changes and release the complete list of features. The update is slated for release on October 22 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a version for the Nintendo Switch 2 confirmed to arrive at a later date.
The update coincides with the release of the ten-episode second season of the anime, directed by Kai Ikarashi. Players are currently awaiting further clarification on how the specific elements from the show will be integrated into the game's mechanics.
