The campaign for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is now playable for those who preordered the title. Access began on October 16, with the content unlocking at 10 AM PT or 1 PM ET on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC.
Developer Infinity Ward has requested that players refrain from sharing story spoilers. The studio emphasized a desire for everyone to experience the narrative for themselves as they prepare to go dark.
Activision executive Tyler Bahl described the game as the epic conclusion to the Modern Warfare storyline initiated in 2019. While certain elements might be reinvented later, the company intends to close this chapter and pursue innovation in future projects, including a new sub-franchise.
Following the campaign release, early access continues with the new DMZ mode on October 20 for preorders. The full official launch, including multiplayer, is scheduled for October 23.
