The DMZ extraction mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is now available ahead of the game's global launch on October 23. Players are deployed to the Hajin map to collect resources and extract before enemy forces eliminate their Operator.
Success in DMZ relies on managing Active Duty Operator slots. Operators are individual characters that gain XP and Dog Tags through survival. Players can distribute Trait Points across three specialized trees: Combatant, Scout, and Survivor. These trees offer up to 66 total traits, such as self-revival or enhanced radar capabilities, allowing for diverse playstyles.
If an Operator is eliminated, they become Missing in Action (MIA) and cannot be used until recovered with DMZ Cash at the Forward Operating Base. Recovered Operators retain their traits but lose their equipment. Alternatively, players can dismiss MIA Operators to recruit new ones, creating a high-stakes environment where experienced characters become more costly to recover.
Dedicated players can reach Prestige status for an Operator once they have earned 18 Trait Points and met specific equipment requirements. This process resets trait points but grants a permanent Prestige Trait. The mode is available on platforms including Xbox Series X|S, PC, Steam, and Battle.net.
