Key information
Embark Studios has seen a major resurgence for its extraction shooter, ARC Raiders, following the release of the 2.0 update, Frozen Trail, on October 8. According to data from Alinea Analytics, the title reached 1.7 million daily active users across all platforms by October 14, marking its highest activity level in over six months.
The update introduced a new PvE-focused mode, which allows players to engage with the game without facing other human opponents. This addition is credited with helping retain users after a free trial period concluded on October 12. Embark Studios is currently testing this mode through October 20 and is considering its permanent implementation.
Commercial performance has also improved significantly. Following a free weekend and a 50% discount, the game sold approximately 150,000 copies in the three days after the promotion ended, generating nearly three million dollars. Additionally, Alinea Analytics estimates that cosmetic item sales on Steam contributed another two million dollars in revenue throughout October.
While these figures highlight the success of the studio's strategy to provide larger, less frequent updates, the long-term sustainability of this player interest remains to be seen. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
