Following record-breaking viewership on Netflix, the franchise K-Pop Demon Hunters is reportedly transitioning to the big screen. The sequel, K-Pop Demon Hunters 2, is expected to debut in cinemas, marking a significant shift in how audiences engage with the series.
The Hollywood Reporter indicates that former Netflix film division head Dan Lin negotiated this theatrical release. However, Netflix has yet to issue an official confirmation regarding these plans.
Broader expansion plans for the franchise are underway. According to Variety, a November 2025 report confirmed an agreement between Netflix and Sony for a 2029 animated release. The Wrap suggests further potential projects, including a third animated film to complete the trilogy, a live-action adaptation, a spin-off series, a stage play, and a short film.
Co-director Maggie Kang noted in a July interview that the original 85-minute runtime restricted the depth of the world-building and the narrative surrounding the defense of Honmoon, providing motivation for these future expansions.
