Developer Digital Sun has scaled back the public playtest for its upcoming title, ReVamp, citing fears regarding the rise of AI-assisted game cloning. Originally announced during the Triple-i Initiative showcase, the public trial is now replaced by a restricted Discord-based session starting Oct. 29.

The studio expressed concern that bad actors are using AI tools to reverse-engineer and publish clones of games before their official release. Digital Sun noted that releasing a large public build months before the March 25 launch date poses a significant risk to their intellectual property.

While the developer hopes to launch a broader public playtest around January, access remains uncertain. Digital Sun emphasized that any future public release depends on their ability to protect the game from potential clones, while also calling on platforms to improve protections for original creative works.

ReVamp is described as a unique "Tower Defensevania" title where players control Dracula to defend his castle. Despite the game's promising art style and premise, the current climate of AI-driven recreations—often facilitated by tools like Claude Opus 5.5—has forced the studio to adopt a more cautious development strategy.
