The 140th China Seminar, hosted by the Korea-China Association and China Media Group on October 16, explored the shift in China's export strategy. Experts highlighted the transition from traditional sectors like electric vehicles, batteries, and solar power to a new trio of growth engines: AI, robotics, and innovative pharmaceuticals, collectively termed 'Shin-Shin-Sam-Yang'.

The seminar emphasized that China's competitive edge is evolving from price-based manufacturing to technology and ecosystem-driven dominance. Tsinghua University professor Zhang Nan noted that this shift is fueled by China's technology self-reliance policies, vast domestic market, and abundant talent, necessitating new collaborative models between Korean and Chinese industries.

Regarding robotics and AI, speakers analyzed how China leverages massive manufacturing data and rapid scaling. Park Seung-chan highlighted that humanoid robots are moving quickly into industrial settings, while Park Ji-min noted that China's AI competitiveness stems from the speed and scale of its integrated ecosystem of startups, investors, and policy support.

In the pharmaceutical sector, Lee Sang-jae explained that China is pivoting toward innovative drug development, supported by faster clinical trials and improved regulatory systems. The seminar concluded that Korean firms must move beyond binary competition, instead identifying specific areas for strategic partnership and cooperation within China's rapidly evolving industrial landscape.
