Key information
Following the release of Belmont’s Curse, an indie development team has introduced a demo for a new Castlevania-adjacent roguelike titled Draftula. The game shifts the perspective by tasking players with building a labyrinthine castle for Dracula.
Draftula functions as a deckbuilder where players earn tile pieces representing castle rooms instead of traditional cards. Strategic placement is essential to construct a structure tall enough to withstand the nightly arrival of a vampire hunter.
Players must manage coin costs to add rooms and defensive monsters. Because Dracula is weakened from a long slumber, users must navigate height restrictions and break specific wards to expand the tower. Hearts earned during runs allow for permanent upgrades between sessions.
Each run varies in duration, lasting from seconds to minutes based on resource management and tile availability. Ultimately, the effort is temporary, as a knight named Sir Del Montes destroys the castle at the end of every night. The demo is currently available on Steam.
