Microsoft and AMD have officially announced that FSR 4.1 technology is coming to Xbox consoles and the Xbox Ally handheld. This development follows the recent introduction of QSSR, Sony's proprietary upscaling solution for the PlayStation 5.
FidelityFX Super Resolution functions by rendering games at lower resolutions before utilizing machine learning to generate sharper images. By reducing the graphical processing load on hardware, this tool allows developers to reallocate resources toward improving overall game performance.
The update will be available on the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Ally X. The Xbox Series S is expected to see the most significant performance improvements, as the console has historically presented challenges for developers due to its RAM limitations.
While the Xbox Ally X and Xbox Ally X20 are scheduled to receive the update by the end of the year, the release for Xbox Series X and Series S is currently listed as coming soon. The base model of the Xbox Ally will not support this technology.
