The Saros: Zenith update is available today, October 19, for all existing owners of Saros at no additional cost. Housemarque designed this expansion to increase replayability for veterans while improving accessibility for new players, aiming to maintain the game's reputation as a top-rated action title.
New accessibility settings include a game speed slider, allowing players to slow down combat to better react to enemy attacks. Additionally, an auto-fire feature triggers weapons when enemies are targeted, though manual reloading remains required to preserve skill expression. These options complement new motion-sensor aiming and button remapping capabilities.
For veterans, the update expands the Carcosan modifier system with ten new protection modifiers and ten trial modifiers. Notably, the 'Melee Corruption Enhancement' turns a dangerous mechanic into a source of damage. These modifiers are central to the new 'Ecliptic Layers' New Game+ mode, where players must meet specific trial requirements to progress and earn a golden crown that grows in splendor based on the difficulty chosen.
Finally, the 'Supreme Marathon' mode introduces a competitive training simulation where players defeat bosses to climb global leaderboards. Available via the Main unit in the Traverse, this mode features sets like 'Incursion,' 'Ascension,' and the continuous eight-boss 'Totality' challenge.
