The travel-themed game World Quest ceased operations on October 21 due to a critical security vulnerability identified in the PHP programming language. The developers announced the immediate closure to prioritize the protection of user data.

The game, which originally operated between 2011 and 2019 on platforms including GREE, Mobage, and Wakupla, was revived in May 2020 to provide virtual travel experiences during the pandemic. However, the title relied on an outdated technical infrastructure.

According to the official notice, the underlying architecture of the game made it impossible to implement sufficient security measures against the newly discovered PHP flaws. Consequently, the team decided that shutting down the service was the only viable option to ensure user safety.

Public reaction on social media has been mixed, with some users expressing shock at the abrupt nature of the termination. Others praised the decision as a courageous move, noting that the age of the game's codebase made the security challenges difficult to avoid.
