Key information

Satoru Honma, currently an Associate Country Director for Japan at CD PROJEKT RED, shared his reflections following the announcement of BioWare's closure on October 22, 2026. Honma, who previously worked at Spike, credited the studio for significantly shaping his professional trajectory.

Honma's connection to the developer began with his deep passion for the 2009 title Dragon Age: Origins. His enthusiasm led him to propose a Japanese localization to BioWare while at Spike, resulting in a well-received release for PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.

This collaboration fostered a professional relationship that influenced future projects. BioWare staff recommended Spike for the localization of The Witcher 2, which eventually led to the Japanese releases of that title and The Witcher 3 by Spike Chunsoft.

These events facilitated Honma's move to CD PROJEKT RED, where he contributed to the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Honma stated that without BioWare, the production of Edgerunners might not have occurred, expressing gratitude for the studio's legacy.
