Publisher Devolver Digital officially announced Serious Sam: The Third Encounter on October 22. Developed by Croteam, this new entry serves as the latest installment in the long-running first-person shooter franchise, which tasks players with defending Earth against alien invaders as the protagonist Sam Stone.
According to Croteam, the narrative of this title picks up immediately following the events of The Second Encounter. Players will continue the pursuit of the series' primary antagonist, Mental, through intense combat scenarios that define the franchise's signature style of facing massive waves of enemies.
The gameplay experience will feature the introduction of new weaponry to the series' arsenal. Beyond the solo campaign, the developers have confirmed that the title will support cooperative multiplayer, allowing friends to join forces in the chaotic, high-action battles characteristic of the series.
Serious Sam: The Third Encounter is currently in development for PC via Steam. While the publisher has confirmed the Steam store page, no specific release date has been set, and information regarding potential additional platforms remains unavailable at this time.
