Key information
The inaugural overseas tour for Umamusume Pretty Derby, originally scheduled for the 22nd and 23rd at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, has been officially cancelled. Cygames announced the cancellation on the 20th after failing to resolve persistent visa complications.
Official statements indicate that visa applications were initiated six months in advance. Despite exhaustive efforts to secure the necessary documentation, the production team could not overcome stringent administrative reviews for non-immigrant work visas, which have become increasingly difficult for international performers to obtain in the United States.
The sudden cancellation has left many attendees in a difficult position, as numerous fans had already arrived in Los Angeles. While Cygames is coordinating refunds for those who purchased official JTB tour packages, the status of compensation for fans who organized their own travel remains under discussion, leaving many to face significant personal financial losses for flights and lodging.
This setback marks a challenging start for the franchise's global expansion. Although future tour stops are planned for London and Seoul, the cancellation of the Los Angeles event represents a major disappointment for both the organizers and the international fanbase.
