The adult fantasy simulation game Desertars, developed by WhiteCute & AlphaNuts, is facing severe consequences following the distribution of a cracked, unauthorized version. Originally a feature phone title, the game was rebuilt for PC over nine years and launched on DLsite in March 2026.

On October 17, 2026, it was revealed that a pirated version of the game had been circulating in China, featuring unauthorized modifications and translations. This incident has caused significant distress to the developer, Hide, who expressed that the situation feels like the abrupt end of a quarter-century of creative activity.

The developer noted that the piracy has severely impacted business prospects, specifically regarding a planned Steam release. While the team had been working on Chinese language support for the Steam version, Hide stated that the unauthorized release has effectively ended the viability of that business path.

Although Desertars remains available on DLsite, the future of the Steam release is currently uncertain. The developer has expressed deep shock over the piracy, leading to concerns about the potential conclusion of their long-standing development work.
