On 22, Once Human released its largest free oceanic expansion, 'Way of the Island'. This update introduces a living sea environment where players must navigate, build ships, and survive across oceans, islands, and underwater zones. The expansion is available on PC, mobile, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

The expansion features complex survival mechanics, including navigating hazardous zones like 'Strange Fog', 'Black Tsunami', 'Acid Rain', and 'Volcanic Fire'. Players can construct modular ships equipped with cannons, harpoons, and utility stations like smelters or generators to create mobile fortresses. Additionally, the update introduces 'Duet', the first environmental manipulation Deviant capable of altering weather and wind through music.

Combat involves destroying biomechanical 'Towers of Disaster' to unlock higher crafting tiers, with these structures evolving into more lethal 'Abyssal Lighthouses' at higher levels. Players can also hunt five unique ghost ships to obtain rare blueprints and modules. The endgame requires server-wide cooperation to conquer regions and trigger the final four-player raid against the 'Master of the Sea', which involves breaching the creature's shell to attack its heart.

Alongside the expansion, Once Human is participating in the 'Green Game Jam 2027' environmental campaign. Until 11 November 20, players can engage in the 'Mr. Wish's Drifter' community event to earn rewards like 'Charity Cosmetic Boxes'.
