The studio confirmed its closure via a social media statement, noting that early development on the upcoming Mass Effect project has been canceled. The announcement acknowledged the studio's three-decade history and the community engagement surrounding its various titles.
Internal communications cited by Bloomberg indicate that Electronic Arts is shifting its investment focus toward sports franchises, Apex Legends, Battlefield, and upcoming projects involving Iron Man and Star Wars. The company stated these changes are intended to align resources with long-term growth opportunities.
Despite the studio's closure, Star Wars: The Old Republic remains operational under the management of Broadsword. Meanwhile, the title Anthem concluded its service earlier this year, marking a definitive end for the developer's contributions to those specific online worlds.
