Digital Extremes has clarified the terminology surrounding its pre-alpha MMO, Soulframe. The developer uses the term Preludes to denote major game builds, with numbered versions representing significant updates. The team recently addressed fan inquiries regarding the upcoming Open Preludes initiative.
Open Preludes will remove the current invitation requirement for PC players. Once active, interested users can register and download the game launcher to access Midrath. The studio confirmed this transition does not constitute a full Steam or console release, nor does it signal the conclusion of founder’s pack sales.
The upcoming Preludes 17 update introduces several gameplay additions, including the ability to ride a mature wolf. Players can expect a variety of new armor and weapons, additional runes, and a new pact featuring damage-buffing abilities. Furthermore, the Votives world events are being reworked to focus on clearing Ode’n corruption alongside various quality-of-life improvements.
Specific release dates for both the Open Preludes phase and the Preludes 17 update remain unannounced. Digital Extremes intends to share these details during a broadcast scheduled for Friday, October 30th, at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
