A new game development conference, Splitscreen, has been announced to fill the void left by the closure of Reboot Develop. Scheduled for April 20–22, 2027, in Split, Croatia, the event aims to replicate the unique atmosphere of its predecessor by fostering a blend of professional work and leisure.
Director and co-founder Hrvoje Mitic emphasizes a focus on social interaction, explicitly excluding a meeting app to encourage organic networking. The event prioritizes face-to-face connections, with Mitic noting that the most valuable industry relationships often form during informal settings like lunches or social outings rather than through structured digital scheduling.
Hosted at the Radisson Blu, the conference will feature workshops, talks, and an evolved game showcase. Confirmed speakers include industry veterans such as Ilari Kuittinen, Rebecca Lautner, and Patrice Désilets. Organizers are actively targeting a global audience, with a specific strategic push to attract developers from Asia, including China, Japan, and Korea.
Beyond international networking, the event will highlight the growing Croatian development sector, which has seen revenue double since 2019. While the local industry has faced recent layoffs, Mitic points to emerging success stories in spaces like UEFN and Roblox as signs of a new wave of creative talent.
