Members of the Activision Quality Assurance United-CWA union have voted to authorize a potential strike. The union alleges that Activision has failed to bargain in good faith regarding their first contract negotiations.
Negotiations began in August 2024 following the union's formation in March. The CWA currently represents nearly 2,500 employees at Activision Blizzard, with Microsoft having previously recognized the union under a 2022 labor neutrality agreement.
The union highlights several critical points of contention, including wage increases, the implementation of AI guardrails, the use of contractors, and rights concerning accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Union representatives claim the publisher has stalled progress for two years.
Activision maintains it has made meaningful progress and remains committed to open dialogue, with meetings proposed for October 21 and 22. The company stated it has contingency plans to prevent disruptions to game releases.
