The 2027 Game Developers Choice Awards are transitioning to a submission-based system, allowing developers and publishers to formally enter their titles for consideration. This marks a departure from the previous nomination process, which relied on an invitation-only panel of over 500 industry members known as the International Choice Awards Network.
To be eligible for the 2027 awards, games must have been released on console or PC platforms between January 1 and December 31, 2026. Interested parties must submit their entries by the November 1, 2026 deadline. The organization confirmed that there are no entry fees associated with this new process.
The upcoming ceremony will feature two newly established categories: Best Gaming Tech and Best Game Launch. These additions accompany broader updates to the GDC Festival of Gaming, which include a revised event schedule, new pass options, and a dedicated Business Hall located at Moscone West.
Winners are scheduled to be revealed on Tuesday, March 2, at the GDC Festival of Gaming. GDC VP of content strategy Mark DeLoura stated that these modifications aim to increase accessibility and provide participants with more flexibility in how they engage with the event.
