Koei Tecmo and Gust have officially confirmed that Jinshi will be a playable character in The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother. While Maomao remains a central figure, players will be able to control Jinshi and other supporting cast members during specific segments of the game.
Gameplay mechanics vary by character, as Jinshi allows players to interact directly with high-ranking officials to gather testimony. In contrast, Maomao focuses on investigation and eavesdropping. Additionally, Luomen and the Guen are confirmed as playable, with both characters capable of synthesizing medicines, potions, and various items.
Early purchasers and those who pre-order the title will receive bonus content. Digital pre-orders include the Apothecary’s Tasteful Accessory Pack, while all early copies come with an Apothecary’s Starter Kit and Modest Accessory Pack. The Digital Deluxe Edition further expands these offerings with additional costume and fashion accessory packs for Maomao and Jinshi.
The Apothecary Diaries: The False Imperial Brother is scheduled for release on March 18, 2027. The game will be available on PC, PS5, Switch, and Switch 2.
